It wasn't that intuitive, but after re-reading your post and trying several things I finally got it vertical while in the position tab I'm not

tab slot In this case, select the axis of the pin and any face on the slot for mating Then select Percentage along with slot from constraints drop-down tab and specify

tab and slot joint Slots are always created as through all cuts unless the cuts are impractical If you do not want a through all cut, select No Through Cut under Slot in the Tab
